Howdy Rosemontians! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

School’s Back in Session & it’s BBQ time !

Well, its that time of year again. Everyone is hitting up farmers’ markets to can some fruits and veggies, school is back in session, parents are looking at the price of gas lamenting why they signed their kids up for so many extra curricular activities and we’ll need to wake Green Day up at the end of the month (if you get that last reference, hello fellow Millennial/Gen X’er!)

We like to kick off the new school year with a little barbeque for the whole community. Join us at the hall on Saturday September 10 from 5:30-7:30pm. We will have some sausages going, music playing, some lawn games and a chance to enjoy a little get-together before the craziness starts again. Tell your neighbours and come on down!

You may see some bulldozing and landscaping around the hall in the next few weeks. We are (hopefully) going to start work on some flood mitigation and sidewalk enhancements on the south side of the hall. This work has been a long time coming for us (3+ years) and we are excited to improve the drainage around the hall because we have had flooding issues in the past, plus the area from the parking lot to the lower rink is a swamp for several months each year.

The proposed changes include a slope away from the hall, some concrete barriers along the parking lot to divert the water towards a swale which should flow towards the creek. As of writing this, this work has not yet been finalized, but hopefully by the time you’re reading it, we will be close to getting shovels in the ground!

Traffic Calming

If it hasn’t started already, there should be some work on traffic calming measures in and around the community. These changes were based on the pilot project that ran last year, along with feedback that you provided to the city. Visit Calgary.ca/Rosemont to see a map of the changes.

It's that time of the year to renew your Membership or sign up if you haven’t before. Once again, we are offering FREE memberships for all residents in Rosemont. Sign up now!

As you may have noticed by now, we have a new website up and running! Its so nice to have such a wonderful new site that helps convey how amazing our community is. We are expanding information on the site by including things like a directory of Rosemontian-owned businesses and City-related resources.

If you have any suggestions for other things that would be valuable, please let us know by emailing us . Once again, a HUGE thank you to Karen Patton for her amazing work on this!

Our hall has lots of terrific programs starting back up as well. LDK Foundation is offering kids and adult karate classes in the fall. And our friends at Common Digs have kids workshops and programs focused on nature and personal growth.

Keep looking after your families, friends, neighbours and yourselves.
Have a wonderful September everyone!
