Howdy Rosemontians! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

The fall is in full swing and after some fantastic weather, winter is definitely starting to creep right around the corner.

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM will be held on Nov 23 at 6:30pm.

First up, we hope everyone can attend our AGM on WED NOV 23 at 6:30pm. We will have a full update of what has gone on at the hall and in the community this past year (which has been a lot). We will also get our friends from Rosemont School and Calgary Police to provide updates on their worlds. Similar to last year, we will have written reports from our government reps. And once again, you are invited to attend in person (with snacks and drinks provided) or virtually. As such, we need you to RSVP by SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20 so that we can get total numbers. Please visit rosemontyyc.com/agm to register.  And everyone who lives in Rosemont is encouraged to come down, especially with membership being free again this year. We hope everyone can make it!

Christmas Market in December

And I know it’s a bit premature to start thinking about Christmas and the holiday season, but I recommend throwing a reminder in your calendar for Dec 3. We will be hosting our 2nd annual Christmas Market at the hall. It was a huge hit with a ton of positive feedback last year so we recommend penciling it in now.

Shortly after our AGM, we have our 2nd annual Christmas Market on Saturday December 3 from 10am-4pm at the hall. With over a dozen curated vendors, drinks, snacks and festive music, you are sure to get a head start on your holiday shopping. So, bring the family and kick off the season right! PS admission is free.

Flood Mitigation

You may see some bulldozing and landscaping around the hall. We are doing some flood mitigation and sidewalk enhancements on the south side of the hall.

If you have walked by the hall, you may have noticed construction around there and a new path. We were able to sneak in our drainage and flood mitigation work around the hall before the frost came. This included a ton of excavation (with some unexpected asphalt underneath), grading away from the hall, a gravel underlay and wooden boardwalk connecting the parking lot to the south and west doors. An absolutely tremendous thank you to Kurt for helping us in the 11th hour after the City provided an insane quote for our original scope of work. He worked over the Thanksgiving weekend to help reduce the impact on our childcare tenants and minimize hall disruptions. Thank you Kurt, seriously.

If you are looking for a fantastic space for your next kid’s birthday party or skating party, we now have our Hall A available for weekend bookings. This is the room that leads out the west door, right near the firepit and has an attached bathroom. Bookings are filling up for the winter so check out pricing and details on the website. And a reminder, community residents with a free membership get 10% off.

Winter is Here!

t’s hard to be believe, but ice-making is right around the corner and the Ice Guys will be getting started soon. If you want to help out, shoot us an email and we’ll put you in touch.

And just a reminder to set aside time on Nov 11 to honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. There is a list of ceremonies available on the City of Calgary website as well as at Family Fun Calgary.

Lest We Forget

Keep looking after your families, friends, neighbours and yourselves.
