Christmas Market - Looking for Vendors

We are hosting our 3rd Annual Christmas Market on Dec 2 from 10am-4pm.

If you have a small or side business involved with homemade gifts, we still have a few tables left .

If you have attended the last few years, you will know that it is small but well-attended.

Please contact hall@rosemontYYC.com for details including pricing and availability.

Casino help for Rosemont School

Our friends at Rosemont School (Fundraising Society) got the short end of the stick this year when it came to scheduling their casino fundraiser. They got Mon Oct 30 and Tues Oct 31 (Halloween), which are two busy nights for parents with small kids.

We have a long history of collaborating with Rosemont School and want to continue that tradition. If you are able to donate a few hours (and enjoy a free meal at the airport casino), please click here for details and to volunteer . By donating some time, a parent will hopefully be able to go trick-or-treating with their kiddos.

Thanks everyone!

AGM - Nov 22 @ 6:30pm

Please save the date for Nov 22 at 6:30pm. We will be hosting our AGM in-person and virtually.

For those attending in-person, we will have wine/beer and cheese.

Please come down, get caught up on what has been going on this past year, including updates from our friends at CPS and Rosemont School.

Affordable Housing Strategy

There has been a lot of discussion around the affordable housing strategy that was approved by council in September. This is one of the biggest and most contentious strategies that has been approved by council (80+ recommendations) and there is currently a lot of misinformation going around.

At this time, the big recommendations related to blanket rezoning and parking have been approved in principle by council but have not been implemented, which requires additional public hearings and council meetings (to take place in 2024).

The Rosemont Community Association board is still working on developing a strategy for effectively gathering feedback that is efficient, effective and equitable. Once we have a strategy put together, we will be sending out dedicated communications regarding it.

We want to ensure the voices of Rosemont are conveyed accurately to council. This is a very important topic that should have it own dedicated resources/open houses/meetings and so we won't be spending much time discussing it at the AGM.

Please stay tuned for more information.

Calgary Parks Plan

By 2024, The City of Calgary will develop and present the Connect: Calgary’s Parks Plan to Council for approval. This Plan will replace the original Open Space Plan approved by Council in 2003 and will determine how Calgary’s parks are managed, developed, and redeveloped over the next 20 years. The process of creating this Plan includes three phases of engagement. The second round of engagement will take place October 16 - November 10, 2023.

Council’s Strategic Direction provided a foundation to help Administration care for the city through the 2023-2026 Service Plans and Budgets. Every year, they make adjustments to their service plans and budgets, continuing to refine them to make life better every day for Calgarians.

There are upcoming Adjustments, which happen in November 2023. This year, the City has provided a focused view of investment opportunities that align closely with the growing needs of Calgarians. Click Learn More to view the opportunities and provide your feedback via Public Submission

Dracula from Workshop Theatre

We love helping highlight awesome small businesses, non-profits and arts groups that are led by Rosemontians. Jacquie Brennan, a long-time Rosemontian heavily involved with Workshop Theatre, one of the longest running theatre companies in Calgary. In time for Halloween, they are hosting their production of Dracula at the Pumphouse Theatre from October 27th - November 4th 2023.

This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances—in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire.
